Moses was abandoned in the Mathare area in Nairobi on 7 June 2006 outside a house where there was a home fellowship. They reported the case to the police, but were allowed to go home with the baby. On 21 June 2006, he got sick and was taken to Kenyatta National Hospital and diagnosed with pneumonia and started treatment. He was later placed at HLCH on 10 Augusts 2006. Moses was taken for foster care (pending adoption) on 15 April 2010 through the Child Welfare Adoption Society by a Kenyan who is a widow and a mother of one daughter. His new name is Moses Bidan Kariuki.
